Juglans mandchurica (Mantsurianjalopähkinä)

An exotic tree from north China and east Russia. Tolerates the cold winters generally well but needs a lot of light and nutritious soil. The nuts of this tree are edible and a delicacy of the squirrels. In wintertime the young tree interests the rabbits and must be protected by a metallic net.
