Malus purpurea (Koristeomenapuu)

Some apple trees exist for our mouths and some other for our eyes. M.pupurea has small, hard and acrid apples, suitable just as food for the winter birds. But the flowers are colorful and really numerous. The tree is a real color spot in the middle of garden in early June in same way as cherry trees in Japan.
